The game of pool is a challenging game that is also fun to play game and can keep everyone entertained for very many hours. It is played throughout the world. There are many different types of pool tables. If you are looking to purchasing one, here are some useful hints and tips you should know about before going out looking
The dimensions of a pool table are calculated by the overall size of the table and not the slate base. There is a lot of confusion about the dimensions of pool tables as they are measured slightly differently than snooker tables.
An extremely important consideration when buying a pool table is the initial outlay, or, in other words, how much is it going to cost to buy a pool table and all the equipment. Different pool tables will better suit different personal needs. Often, the price of pool tables depends on the quality and craftsmanship of the actual pool table.
Before you start looking you should ensure that a pool table is within your budget. Pool tables are available at a range of prices to suit different needs and budgets. The least expensive tables you can buy are probably best suited to children who are likely not to treat the table well. The inexpensive tables are nothing more than toys, definitely not made for the serious pool player. Their playing surfaces are made of materials usually of poor quality. They usually have a limited guarantee because of the low grade materials used. They are, however, useful for children and to learn the rules of pool.
The next step up is the economy pool table and is most suited for recreational uses. They have a 3/4 playing surface, and in most cases have a one piece slate. The rest of the table is usually made up of particle board coated in a poor quality laminate or vinyl. The materials that make up the economy table look good, but the materials will rot and tear fairly quickly. The table's cushion and other parts will be of good quality but in most cases will not last forever. Most economy level pool tables come with a one-year guarantee.
Mid range level pool tables offer a good playing experience and come in a wide variety of styles and designs. The slate playing surface is supported by cross and centre beams. These beams provide strong support to the interior cabinet and ensure durability. The cabinet and rails are made of thick boards covered in oak veneer or kiln dried hardwood timber. Mid range tables are constructed with premium materials.
Mid range tables should be viewed as lifetime investments, which is why they usually include a lifetime warranty. Quality of build and materials used is generally of better quality than that of an economy table.
The last type of table, and most expensive, is the custom pool table. Custom pool tables are usually only purchased by those who are truly passionate about the sport. They are made of superior quality materials; they have intricate designs, and are made to the highest quality standards. Often, these types of pool tables are kept in the family and are passed down from generation to generation.
